He pries the knife off of his neck and steps back, almost casually, and turns away from her temporarily to pull out a bottle of cognac. He pours himself a glass, and leaves an empty glass and the bottle on the table.]

"Then it's worse than I thought."

[ He's definitely more deflated when he's present, in front of her - not hiding. Still, there is a certain presence to the man, almost ghastly. He wears a black mask, and a stuffy old suit - that much wasn't new, but something about the way his face moved under the mask was almost disturbing - like his jaw was loose, or something of the sort. He sighs. He turns his back often..]

"Katherine was worried about her sister - for good reason, of course - she's very talented.. but, as I presume you've figured out, she's also.. quite overconfident."

[He looks through cabinets, pulling out stacks of newspapers, and a few pictures - some of Kat, herself, some of other seemingly insignificant things.. at some point, he had lit a cigarette.]

"They were both rather jealous... "

[He smooths out a newspaper - a few years ago, when Kat was in her late teens..]

"I only tried to contact her recently. After a few of my previous teammates pulled something that's been keeping me from respawning normally.. presumably, a test run before they do the same to her - an eye for an eye, something or other.."

hunter walks along the mine's corridor, small flashlight in hand. her boots crunch the gravel under them softly as her fingertips slowly drag along the dusty leftside wall. silent except for her footsteps, and the quiet, repeated chant under her breath of the instructions. she stops in her tracks and falls silent once she feels a shift in the rocks. the slightest imperfection.

clicking on the flashlight, she finds the outline of the false wall. just like she said. she presses on it. it gives and cracks ajar. unsheathing her knife, she pushes the door open and shines the light through.

A few stolen paintings on the walls echo Kat's style - but is far more organized. It's clear where she got it from. She can hear him in an adjacent room.. one wall must be false.]

GRAHH If I could rewrite talon I would make his story focus more on his exploitation bc that's literally what's happening to him. ok I know that they currently frame it like he was adopted and that went generally swell, but his color story focuses more on his pursuit of perfection (and filling in Kat's lore) so none of his lore really focuses on his EXPLOITATION which is crazy because talon actually serves SUCH a good perspective/critique bc hes not like any other exploited Noxian (eg: rell, briar) bc he's STILL stuck under Noxus's thumb. rell and briar focus more on the after, the revenge, the freedom. in rells case they dig in just a little bit but it's more focused on the horrible things that were done to her so it's very easy to see how she was abused. but I don't know why riot wouldn't focus on the exploitative aspect of talon bc it's SO GOOD thematic-wise and offers a lot of depth and subtle critique that is more than just 'they experimented on them so of course they're bad.' (and anyway rell [and Kayn, another exploited child] already reject Noxus.)

talon is literally born in the heart of Noxus, indoctrinated to Noxus from the begining, 'adopted' but ultimately used by his powerful father, believes only in being perfect bc that's all that matters in Noxus: being the best in whatever way suits you best. he is everything wrong with noxus as a whole, he's been eaten by the Noxian war machine. if riot wanted they could easily use talon to offer a scathing critique of Noxian culture that's more than just surface level 'abusing kids is bad.' like sure 'he was adopted out of poverty. this is a good thing.' but let's look a little deeper at the nature of exploitation and the unique pov talon offers by not being free of it yet.

how can someone learn more league lore?? i’ve only watched arcane and have 0 interest in playing the actual game (sorry) but i saw something about katarina and garen and i really want to read their story!!! i read the webtoon already but i need more 😞 do you know where to find canon lore outside of the game?

ok so

You probably know the general gist of Garen/Katarina at the moment. There was a film project Riot shelved called 'Enemy of my Enemy' that was supposed to be about them - it is probably going to be refinished into the next animated series since Arcane was so successful.

I'm aware you're not interested in playing League of Legends (can't blame you) but next year, in-game, they are splitting up the year into thirds and each third of the year will focus on a different region - the first being Noxus. So, it's my belief they will expand on Noxus lore and champions.

I predict Demacia will follow but they have not given any confirmation. Demacia and Noxus have been at war since forever so it makes sense for Demacia to follow? But Noxus picks fights with everybody lol so who knows.

(In case others are reading this, Garen and Katarina are from Demacia and Noxus, respectively. They basically have Romeo-and-Juliet love but they're adults and their regions are constantly at literal war but they're secretly dating on the side, lol.)

If you are interested in League of Legends lore, there is a website where you can read about the champions and official short stories, however! It is difficult to navigate. Much of it is sorted by date, which doesn't help new people if they don't know the champions or the regions they are from.

However, Garen/Kat interactions in-game are what give their love story away, as well as their interactions in Legends of Runeterra, a card game Riot has released, where Garen/Kat do a horrible job of hiding that they're dating (Katarina: "I will slay you where you stand! Dinner, tonight?" >> Garen: "You shall fall on your folly! Meet me at the south docks after dark."). I have not played this card game but it gives a lot of insight into the lore. I understand it's very overwhelming though since LoL has so many champions now and they are all interconnected. But if you're not looking to play the MOBA, there's LoR the card game, Teamfight Tactics (TFT) the auto chess game, and the mobile version of LoL Wild Rift. I'm not suggesting you play any of the games but rather that these games have a lot of quotes and written details that give insight to the lore of the champions. LoR being the top one for the most up-to-date lore info.

Rakan and Xayah (lovers, Rakan short story, Xayah short story)

Lucian and Senna (they are husband and wife, lots of individual lore but have two stories together: this one and that one)

Nidalee and Neeko (note: Neeko is non-binary, they have a song, they are not quite a couple as they parted to explore on their own but they do explicitly mention they love/miss each other when they encounter each other in-game)

Their are other characters in game who have "crushes" but they aren't couples. For example, Ambessa has a special voice line for her type (Akshan, Aphelios, Ezreal, Hwei, Illaoi, Rakan, Shyvana): "I could use a massage. Tell me... Are you good with your hands?" XD

hi! i’m sorry if i’m not the anon you meant but i just wanted to say that i really like your take on johnny. matt dillon for a face claim was honestly such a good choice because they look so alike and in a lot of dillon’s films there’s some clips that’d be perfect for johnny. also the really cool leland blog using matt dillon for a face claim too made me think of leland eventually turning into johnny like in that one verse. the massive differences in the roles that matt’s played and the difference between leland and johnny but at the end of the day it’s the same actor and in that one verse johnny makes leland think that he isn’t different from him at all. i just think it’s cool

im really glad that you like what i'm doing with him! listen, when the gun interactive team said that johnny was made based off matt, the way that i nearly lost my mind, i'm telling you what!! should have been there that day, it was a very affirming day. WEBFKJEB but yes exactly!! kels and i using matt dillon in respective movies to capture our characters separately in roles that fit the character a bit more than others -- us also knowing they do become one in the same, different sides of the same coin, much like in some of the Dire Verses. that was actually a complete accident to happen -- but one that could be a lot of symbolism, knowing too that johnny & leland are meant to be parallels of a sort, especially in those verses.

and yesss the misfits are such a good band! i do listen to them & i have them scattered in some playlists pertaining to johnny. i highly recommend Koffin Kats !! they're modern, but they have such good 70s/80s/ retro punk rockabilly feel -- they sung my pinned song, which is about t/cm, & have a lot more "morbid" songs within the similar nature. if you have any music reccs, i'd love to take a listen! i love when people share some music that reminds them of me or my characters, etc! or hell, even what has been stuck in your head lately. i always love sharing things like that!

I think sometimes the VAs work when sick, but there are times where they are absent for a whole week just like when moon went missing (I think last year) and it was because he was sick, or more recently Davis and Kat moved and they didn’t appear that’s why foxy or puppet showed up.

But I do agree I wish they could go back like the beginning where they would post lore videos on the weekends and for special occasions like the first Halloween takeover like they are doing it right now. I miss them playing more and just having fun I also wish they could finish a game like little nightmares, idk that’s wishful thinking, but also don’t try and speed run the game, play it like it’s the first time, or for games like cult of the lamb have a new save file start from the beginning so viewers get interested on it, just don’t jump on it and play it otherwise people won’t know what’s going on (I speak from experience, when watching their gameplays).

Katarina comes from a rich family and is a bit of a spoiled only child. After the death of her parents she became obsessed with the idea of legacy- that if people remember your name and your stories that you are never truly dead. With her inheritance money she could have gotten the best ship and the best crew money could buy- but that doesn’t make for a good story. So she started off with ship constructed by a fishman who got roped into being her first crew mate. Teume had no desire to be a first mate which worked out when they crash landed onto the island that Cecilia was on- taking her in as the next member. Altair came into the picture when the three of them quickly realized none of them knew how to properly read a map and some of that inheritance money went to bribing Altair, a seasoned navigator, to take a chance on their rag tag little group.

As for the Lore-Lore fruit- it is a paramecia type fruit that allows the user to bring a story they have written to life. Each story can only be used once and it’s power is directly correlated to how detailed and well written the story is. How long the story can stay going depends on the users stamina- the more complex and long one is the harder it is to keep going. The words also have to be physically written down so any damage to Katarina’s journal is a blow to her abilities.

When a story is activated she can channel characters and/or setting- calling allies to her aid and changing the battlefield. She has as much control over the characters as any author has- sure you can push them to do something but it has to be logically in character for them to do. Settings are a bit easier in general, calling forth terrain for defenses is typically Kat’s go to move in combat situations.

I'm so in love with this design it's insane. So insane. Thank you LoR team for turning an ancient, lowkey racist design into THIS. Bit too Vastayan imo because her lore is "Human with Vastayan heritage" BUT that's a tiny tiny nitpick easily overlooked bc her lore could change anyway [n' probably needs a touch-up] And her kitty kat form? Oh. My god. My god they made it more than a saber-tooth with a gem on it's face. They made it into an actual BEAST.

Alright I decided to post stuff about my goofy story. I’ve been workshopping this story since I was in middle school (I’m in my last year of high school now) but I still think it’s very rough so keep that in mind. That being said any criticism is welcome.

Here’s the overall plot (CW: Implications of nasty things like torture):

OK GET READY BOIS IT’S EXPLANATION TIME; THIS IS GONNA BE A LONG ONE. So this lore explanation is just gonna go over everything you need to know cause if I cover all the lore we’re gonna be here all day.

So basically there’s two types of people. Red systems and blue systems. Blue systems are naturally a lot more sensitive and naive then red systems so they’ve always kind of been discriminated against. Not so bad in the past but it will get bad during the time of my story. Anyway, many many MANY years before my story starts; there’s this religion. Now this religion is very strict and limits the freedom of everyone. Naturally, people start rebelling against the religion and it dies out. The religion is long dead during the time of my story but the effects of it are still present. Basically, since the religion limited freedom under the guise of “morality” there was a group called the dark reds (DR) that decided to rebel by being animalistic and showing no regard for morality. They decided to do real bad; real sadistic things to people. Especially blue systems; since they were very easy targets. The groups of people who rebelled against the religion in more normal ways formed their own political parties. The unbiased (U) people AKA the purple middlers decided to not have any political opinions; as they believe politics act just as the religion did. The light blue biased (LB) people are people who are morally against the dark reds, but they’re too scared to actively oppose them. Then there’s the blue middlers (BM). The people who actively and aggressively oppose dark reds.

This takes us to modern day in my story. There are now kingdoms separated by political bias. The purple kingdom lets everyone live there; since they believe kicking anyone out would show political bias. The green kingdom keeps out both strong biased people (both dark reds and blue middlers) in order to keep a peaceful society. The blue kingdom keeps out dark reds; considering It’s a blue middler ran kingdom and it’s morally against dark reds, and the red kingdom keeps out blue middlers; considering it’s a dark red kingdom and blue middlers would try to stop their sadistic activities. The red kingdom is ruled by the Tilley family: a group of dark reds that are the poster children for dark redism. These are obviously the villains of the story considering they’re sadistic jackasses. The blue kingdom is ran by the Kri family; a group of blue middlers who are the poster children for blue middlerism. Christine Coffey of the Coffey family rules the green kingdom and is light blue biased, and Kat Ingles of the Ingles family rules the purple kingdom and is unbiased. However unlike the very strong biased Tilleys and Kris; members of the Coffey and Ingles families range in bias. Like Lydia Coffey who has a dark red bias, or Winona Ingles who has a blue middler bias. Our story starts when Jared and Sydney Kri have a child that’s a statistical anomaly. Evie Kri is a blue system child born to two red system parents. While the odds of this happening aren’t impossible; they’re EXTREMELY low. This scares the Kri family (since blue systems are the main targets of dark reds, and since the dark reds hate the Kri family; the Kris are afraid that Evie will become their #1 target if they ever knew about her). So the Kris hide her identity from the rest of the world and her existence is only known in the blue kingdom. There are harsh punishments for ever speaking a word about her outside of the kingdom. Evie (being our main character) struggles between her fear of what might happen to her and her want to not be kept on a leash by her overprotective family. And that’s where the story begins 🎉

Here’s some really bad gachas to give you an idea about what a few of the characters look like. Note that I’m bad at character design LMAO. So yeah, just take this as an overall idea of what they look like in my head since I can’t draw worth a shit:

Girl with black hair: Evie Kri (She/Her): Princess of the blue kingdom. Main character. Hates politics but still tries to engage in them. Her family doesn’t want this for her, since she’s a blue system Kri they’re overprotective to the extreme. Truthfully, she doesn’t want that for herself either, but she feels like she has something to prove. Puts herself in her own paradox: all she really wants in life is to be herself and be comfortable with being a blue system, but also feels she has to put on a red system Kri persona both to protect herself and prove that there’s a reason she’s a member of the prestigious Kri family. In reality, she’s a sensitive girl who likes to engage in fiction and wants to become a horror novelist. However the persona she puts on is a smug blue middler know-it-all.

Guy with grey eyes: Jared Kri (He/Him): King of the blue kingdom. Pinnacle of an overprotective father. He is an anxiety ridden mess. Very overly moral man. Rightfully hates the dark reds but can come off as a little morally righteous. Has very good intentions despite his flaws. (Ahhhh his hair looks so goofy. But it was the closest thing to what I imagined even though it doesn’t look good on his gacha)

Guy with blue eyes: Andrew Tilley (He/Him): King of the red kingdom. Absolute asshole man. Is the worst. Very childish spoiled brat who doesn’t understand empathy. Is a dark red and a Tilley so he’s a sadistic jackass too. What a lovely man! Even though he acts like a child; he’s very dangerous. Mostly cause he’s a very good manipulator. Likes to pretend that nothing can bother him but is very afraid of losing control.

Girl in green: Christine Coffey (She/Her): Queen of the green kingdom. Very sweet woman who makes a lot of mom jokes. She wants to present herself as a motherly figure, and tries to see the best in everyone. Hates the fact that she’s a coward though. She’s a light blue biased person, which means she opposes the dark reds but is too scared to say so. She wants to become more courageous and looks to Jared for inspiration.

Purple hair: Kat Ingles (They/Them): Ruler of the purple kingdom. Firmly believes in staying out of all political arguments . Is kind of a dick, and looks down on anyone with political bias. Even though they’re unbiased; they will do anything to keep the political power they have. Always tries to keep up a professional appearance, and only lets loose around their girlfriend (that girlfriend is Christine Coffey woahhhhhh).

she isn't really a bully (she's not friendly, she keeps everyone else at a distance, but she doesn't go out of her way to pick on others), but neither does she bother to interfere most of the time if sb else is being bullied. touch her friends (she won't call them that) or her siblings and you'll get yourself a public beating though.

I was also thinking of cass and tal..... I wonder where they are.... but I kinda like the idea that, much like kat doesn't resent marcus as much and would want to look into his disappearance like ye old canon lore, she and talon would team up for that

regardless of what cait says she's a 100% too stuck up for kat to like her at all tbh

thinking about the fact she and yone were in the assassin club together at one point in labrys (and I know with the whole 'they're both arrogant loners' that seems unlikely but. what if they were friends. what if)

ez and lux are both too chipper optimistic and bubbly for her liking (I think with time she warms up to them but. she'll not admit it)

she hates jayce she can't stand to see his face all over school ok he's class president but is it really necessary to stamp his face on everything (stabs jayce pictures for fun) (nothing personal but if he tried to approach her the welcome would be frigid)

if sb says she's cute she'll stab them with the nearest available sharp tool it might be a dagger it might be a pencil

despite her attitude she's a top student and the top assassin in school. but she may or may not have been involved in previous durandal assassin club presidents suffering unfortunate accidents to take over the position faster.

I hate this but i'm getting this out of the way right now because i am NOT pointing out every time this happens, but i cannot believe how much unintentional deviantart type shit is in this?? Obviously it's all goofy cartoon gags so it's innocuous in intent but with so many in quick succession it feels like we're checking off boxes here. Kids, there's nothing more cool than drawing characters you like, but if an anonymous stranger ever randomly approaches you asking you to draw "what if ashley was giant haha", THAT'S NO GOOD

One other thing before i get into the individual stages that i thought was weird even back when they released the trailers for this, and i'm being a little fun police about this, is fhat i dont like the implication that this ancient civilization was colonized and converted into a tourist trap. I don't know how i would have fixed this but seeing it all laid out like that is like oh, this feels sucky.

WARIO: I like the callback to smooves in his stage and also that he gets both in and out of trouble by being a massive dick. The new voice......it's gonnna have to grow on me

MONA: Was a little disappointed that she was looking for mermaids instead of like barnacles or something but it's fine, mermaids can be for everyone. Joe is a fucking maniac but i respect him.

THE CRYGORS: really fucking cute. I love the pose mike does when you win. Also, the retroactive cave drawings of each of them are super funny

OK first of all, i know i said that i wasnt gonna bring this up again but i really really hate the orbulon weight gain thing. Do you know how many of that exact image i have been accosted by before this game was even announced just by googling his name?? TOO MANY. And now all of them are REAL. I feel betrayed.

I don't know how to feel about the oinker being alive. I'm at a loss. On one hand, it upends everything we know about the oinker. On the other hand, i too have a soul bond with my car

I enjoyed being able to look inside orbulon's brain. I think that is all i ever wanted to do in a wario game.

One thing i think is highly consistent with his old characterization is that he WOULD instantly welcome people worshipping him like a god

THE ORBULON DAD REVEAL. It's like. See I thought we were going to meet him in person and it would be like a big lore thing but this is literally a joke. I'm ok with a joke. I'm ok with a gaff.

I really appreciated all of the slapstick. If orbulon doesn't eat shit on the concrete is it even worth it

This is in a later cutscene but i'm addressing it here, i simultaneously love and hate the fact that orbulon is depicted sleeping on a lounge chair slurping a drink because i literally drew him doing exactly that in the next camping episode. I'm very happy that we are all in agreement that that is a thing he can do. But mark my words i did it first so you gotta act surprised okay

OK one last thing but i really liked rhe chicken rap

ASHLEY: Just your standard garden variety ashley cutscene. Even on vacation red needs a vacation

THE REMIX BUS: this is my favorite cutscene in the game. Super funny, love the chaos as well as seeing each character fooling around and just hanging out, and mike's singing is melodious. This is the peace all true warriors strive for

CRICKET & MANTIS: I think i said "WHAT" out loud like five times during both of these cutscenes. WHAT!!!!!!!!!

KAT & ANA: Similarly, CRACTUS??!!!?! FROM WARIO LAND??!! I enjoy how many random throwbacks this game has. Also, nice to see the return of leo even though i didnt care about him that much. He's alright

JIMMY T: Beautiful as always. 10/10 no notes

Dribblenspitz: I think there is more raw emotion in dribble's "AW, NUTS" than the entire rest of the game. Love their cutscene

Also love that REPORTER KEN is BACK and i guess he wears contacts now good for him. Love the traditional dribblenspitz sci fi shooter boss

Anyway I’m a HUGE fan of hurt/comfort, so I’d like it if readers would imagine that all of my tickly fix-it’s happen with this sort of thing as a sort of historical context for my aus :) (Kat is seriously an incredible writer. Most of her stuff is REALLY dark, but I think these two fics are kind of around the level of angst where you’d still be able to appreciate them.) (Especially because you KNOW the fluff is gonna come right after :) )

finally managed to read both of these!! and omfg they’re both incredibleeeeee!! i love the way they’re written so much and you’re right this is the sort of angst i can absolutely handle,, and more than that,,, i quite simply adore it. his character is awesome

it’s actually so damn cool what people can take from the minecraft lore. the prison arc has always been my favourite to write i feel. there’s so much emotion and it’s easy to compare said emotion to the prison’s surroundings. and you’re right, this person is feckin epic at writing omg. the way they describe the changes that dream and sam go through in prison is incredibly awesome. their flow is awesome. their descriptions are awesome.

the way they mention both sam and dream comparing dream’s body to a machine is so cooollll. coz that’s what it felt like in the prison arc, both of them slowly losing sight of what they were even both there for, just getting far too sucked up in their role. it’s also fun to point out that sam would have been making all his decisions assuming that dream would be in prison for ages. dream was under the impression that he’d be out after a only a short time (once punz decides that he’s off everyone’s radar). it’s just so cool.

and also how they talked about how once techno and quackity had left the prison they both ended up slipping so comfortably back into their roles (sam is warden, dream is is prisoner). so coooollll

ok ThIS one i feCKIn lOvE. like it captures dream’s tolerance to physical pain so damn well, and his way of always finding a positive light in his struggles. his character was always so optimistic in the darkest of situations. also i lOVe the way they’ve told it. basing it around food. so cool

the little details that they added were anazingggg. like the fact that he was clumsy and not as skilled in the early days, and the idea of him trying to roast his potatoes in the lava. and omG the s2 reference at the end there aH ahHH!! it’s so pretty and well written and fun. like it’s such a fun way to describe his character. very very coool 🥺

Ok here's the lore of my oc {doraender}

{Warning: graphic topics, getting cřūšhêd to almost death}

So basically she was a toon, a black n' white toon and her name was ender kitty kat. So the night of 26th of january {year unspecified} she was having a walk with some toons and the mouse itself, mickey mouse. While the toons were taking said walk, a big rock fell unknownly from the sky {Supposedly it was a rock that may have fell from a building that was still unfinished} and unfortunatelly that rock fell right on ender. She was complitely spłãţţërēd on the ground, her ink was pouring on the ground like it was bløød. The only thing that for some reason didn't get čřůshēd was her břă!n. The toons that were with her that night imidiatelly called help. After a series of complicated procedures, she was "re-born", but not complitelly, into a robot with the name, doraender.

{Those procedures took a day and she was finally done on 28th of january}

{Also the day that would've followed if she didn't get cřůshəd would've been the day that she would've be a fully colored toon}
